Wilson Feed Mill / Alexander Mill 1989

Wilson Feed Mill. Entrance into store.
Rear of Wilson Feed Mill. Where the water is falling is where the turbine used to function. The stream of water is the tail race. The tail race is adjacent to the canal. There is a head race that attaches the canal to the slucie gates just to the right of the mill in this photo. If you look close you can see the remnant iron turbine in the penstock just before the water falls into the tail race. Photo 1989.
This is an excellent photo in 1989 showing the canal, head race and mill location.
The canal has a lock that is blocking the water flow. The canal water is now being channeled into the head race on the left of the canal and rear of the mill building. Please read the history of Wilson Mill and how and why mills were built along canals.
Wilson Mill is an wonderful example of a mill and canal combination. It is rare to find such amazing historic mills and canals functioning today.
